About the Artist
Anne-Marie de Rivera
Anne-Marie de Rivera is a painter and mixed-media artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area.
She was born in New York City of Belgian and Dutch parents. She was educated in Canada, Chile, and Switzerland, and graduated from l’Ecole des Beaux Arts de Genève. She continued her studies at the California College of the Arts in Oakland, and the College of Marin, in Kentfield, CA.
Her abstract and figurative paintings grew out of the European influences of her childhood, combined with the colors, passion, and folklore of Latin America. Her summers were spent in Italy and France, drawing the architecture and people in small villages. At 22 she moved to Mexico, and lived in a remote tropical area. While there she discovered color, and created vibrant murals depicting the flora and fauna of her environment.
Anne-Marie’s work has been exhibited at galleries and museums in California, New York, and internationally. She has had a solo exhibition of her paintings in Santiago, Chile, and was part of several group exhibitions in Paris, France, and Stockholm, Sweden.
